Typo saves start-up: legal rottweilers still on leash

There’s a new video website called Viddler. Obviously my lawyers have been informed and are watching developments closely, but that lucky double D may just have averted a situation. There’s a good overview of the service at Solution Watch, which explains how you use a timeline to “tag and comment any particular moment of time in a video”. I’ve developed stuff like this in Flash before, so it’s really interesting to see how they got it working.

    Hi Craig,

I knew we didn’t go with Vidler for a reason :).

Great last name! What nationality does it descend from?

If you send me some contact info, next time we get t-shirts made, I will make sure we send you over a few. You could then cross out the second “D” ;).

    Hi Rob

Thanks for the message! My site’s still very much in development, so I was pleasantly surprised to be getting comments already.

Since my last name’s quite unusual, it’s always striking to see even a resemblance to it, which is why your site caught my eye. I think it’s Norman French and came to the UK with William the Conqueror.

I think I’m right in saying there’s an ancient Norman custom that one should never decline freebie apparel before Whitsun - so hey, thanks for the t-shirt offer, details on the way :).

    Nice site btw!
